The Importance of Including Lingual Orthodontics in Today's Practice

 

Abstract:

From my personal experience I have realized that there is a demand for lingual orthodontics: While patients seek the cosmetic comfort of invisible braces, orthodontists seek the ability to better control the outcome of their patient's treatment.

However, patients avoid electing lingual orthodontics because the treatment usually costs much more than traditional options. Likewise, many orthodontists shy away from lingual orthodontics because treatment plans are typically more complicated and laboratory costs are usually higher.

By incorporating new modules of treatment I made lingual orthodontics a more affordable option in my own practice. In this presentation I would like to share with you my personal experience. I also hope orthodontists leave this presentation encouraged to educate their patients with the message that lingual orthodontics can be an affordable treatment option.

Through lingual orthodontics, not only will the patient enjoy truly invisible braces, but the patient will also likely benefit from better treatment results. This is because lingual orthodontics gives orthodontists better control over the patient's treatment, than other comparable options like clear plastic aligners.
